Expert Solution

East Indian Hindu American population is a group that is well influenced by all the cultural aspects and beliefs of Hinduism. They rely on the customs, traditional rituals and cast bidden beliefs. In medical care, they consider diseases and ailments as punishment for sins which were done in previous or former birth or life. Though this population respect the medical and nursing profession so much, many of them go for certain rituals like poojas instead of emergency surgeries and medical aid which resulted in worse complications and scope of nursing practice was hindered due to lack of cooperation and communication. Many of them refused to take insulin as they consider it as originated from animal. Also, a detailed explanation of rationale for every drug prescribed is always demanded beyond the lack of time. There always exist a lag in proper communication, understanding, knowledge of the patient etc that degrades the output of efficient nursing practice in the mentioned population.
