On 1 January 2011, the Australian Government’s Paid Parental Leave Act came into effect. Under the scheme, eligible working parents (usually birth mothers) can receive up to 18 weeks’ pay at the rate of the national minimum wage. In 2013, the Paid Parental Leave Scheme was extended to provide Dads (and partners) with two weeks of paid leave following the birth of their babies. The Dad and Partner benefit is not available to birth mothers. Discuss why the Government may have chosen to restrict this new benefit to fathers. What are the likely consequences of this new benefit for the time men and women spend in market versus home production?

On january 1st 2011, This Act named paid parent leave act (PPL) provides for the payment of parental leave pay(mother) and dad or partner pay in the first year after the birth of a child or, for adoption, the placement of a child.

Parental leave pay is paid to a person for a particular period. That period is called the person’s PPL period. The maximum period for which any person may be paid parental leave pay is 18 weeks for a woman . Awoman's PPL period may be the full 18 weeks or a lesser period. Parental leave pay is paid in instalments at the national minimum wage for each week day during the woman's PPL period.in the year 2013 another term Dad or  partner pay is a one time payment that relates to a period of up to 2 weeks which was introduced. The period is called the person’s DAPP period. The person’s DAPP period may be the full 2 weeks or a lesser period (if the person is not eligible for dad and partner pay for that full period).this is all according to the FEDERAL REGISTER OF LEGISLATION BY THE AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT.Dad or  partner pay is paid at the national minimum wage for each week day during the person’s DAPP period.

As a single lactating mother all of us know that the gestation period for a human is nearly 9 months to 10 months( if any problem pertains to the women's internal resistance factors). In these 9 months the last 4 months , there should be an entire full fledged care of the baby and the mother which acts like a shield for the baby in terms of protection.so a 18 weeks(41/2 months) paid leave is not at all sufficient for a mother to recover from all the blood loss, apetite change and all other factors to regain and come to the normal life. this entire path of 18 weeks of PPL are very crucial in which extreme care must be taken with the help of her partner.so there is a need of partner at that crucial period, but unfortunately a 2 weeks of DAPP is not at all sufficient for the father to take care off.but according to the government of australia has taken the foillowing laws through legislation.

the governemt have already given 18 weeks to the female so it is going to restrict the 2 weeks short and extra period for the dad constrained to dad itself.it was a nice decision to give dad's DAPP for a certain period which is somewhat constrained.this consequence of DAPP is a new propaganda a method to develop the mutual love feeling, care towards a single cause, and a property of commitment or responcibilty of both dad and mom wrt to the baby.

these 2 weeks helps the dad to help mom who was already carrying a baby of 7 months to stay safe she should be free from all the burden of market and the main job of a woman in home production.if the home production system was gone wrong then entire apetite system goes wrong with the individuals and a threat to the new born baby.so dad was given an opportunity to help her partner in market and home production things at that critical time and love making of individuals is a factor to get rid of fear. sometimes people need some moral support from their loved ones in cases of threat to a new born or herself, there should be sometime to get rid of all the threat feelings to help each other.

this new benefit for men has helped a lot to woman in terms continuing their duties, always men have a little knowledge in market so this was an opportunity to improve themselves in market, there are a lot of things which woman used to buy wrt market then all these falls on men which helps them in decision making wrt the needs of a good family. And home making is another factor which entirely depends on woman but this the men will get an overall knowledge of home production which in future is needs of both, while situation demands them they should be in a position to interchange themselves.so this is a time to make themselves self sustain with the capabilities of both men and women.

so government has taken a fruitful decision with giving DAPP AND PPL.
