1. What are some of the inadequacies of the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)? What bias does the federal government indicate in supporting the Family Preservation concept? How well does the FMLA serve non-traditional families? Why does the Social Work profession reject the act of serving non-traditional families differently?

Solutions

Expert Solution

One of the inadequacies of FMLA is that it guarantee certain employees upto 12 weeks of unpaid leaves every year with no threat of job loss. It further requires that employers who are covered by the law should maintain the health benefits for the workers just as if they were working in the organisation.

Federal government indicates that family preservations means it not only includes the traditional family system. They should include the modern family system to maintain the peace of the employees as he needs. FMLA serves non traditional families by short living , parenting the child and several other programmes which inadequacies are always there that these facilities are not for the special populations. Social work professions reject serving of non traditional families diffeently because society should be treated as a whole. It not only means that only better part of the society is to be included and not to include the other part. Modernisations in the society are the most common things and which also are being the part of the traditions too. Thus non traditional families are also included in the social work professions accordingly.
