food and drug interactions associted with coumadin and statins?

Drug interactions:: station may slightly elevate the anti coagulant response to Coumadin.This mechanism may be take place from Protein binding sites.statin may interact in a similar way with other oral anti coagulant.There is a chance of acute kidney failure if interaction of both drug occurs.patient should be advised to report promptly if any signs of bleeding,pain,swelling or headache,dizziness,weakness,bleeding from any part of the body ,red or brown urine and red or black stools.
food interactions:statin may interact with grape fruit or it's juice while intake of vit.k is strictly prohibited for the patients who are under anti coagulant therapy as it can reverse the action of anti coagulant.mayopathi manifested as muscle pain associated with grossly elevated creatinine kinase due to statin food interaction.it can lead to acute renal failure secondary to myoglobunuria may result in death.Thus all patients taking statin therapy should be advised to inform promptly if they have muscle pain week ness, or fever or dark color urine .
