Use the five determinants of health to explain why more chronic diseases than infectious diseases appear on the current list of the 10 leading causes of death in the United States.
diseases such as heart disease ,athritis cancer and diabetes are typically brought on by excessive or harmful use of tobacco and alcohol ,unhealty dise and lack of physical exercise .while the progression of these disease can be slowed by early detection and use of medication ,they cannot be cured or prevented by vaccination Health is influenced by many factors ,which may generally be organized into five broad categories known as determinants of health they are,
genetics behavior- although there are many possible cause of human disease, family history is often one of the strongest risk factor for common disease complex such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes ,autoimmune diseases and psychiatric illnesses. Family ory is thought to be a good predictor of an individuals disease risk because family members most closely represent the unique genomic and environmental interactions that an individual experience. This genetic behaviours contributes both directly and indirectly to the pathogenesis of disease
environmental - extensive review of associations between early exposure to various chemicals and chronic diseases throughout life.itions such as obesity ,metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular diseases and type two diabetes are assosiated with lower socioeconomic circumstances.these diseases have connection with air pollution, heavymetels, and various endocrine disrupting chemicals for example elements such as arsenic, cadmium.lead ,and mercury are typically found in drinking water ,foods, dust ,fish and in other consumer products .They are probable or established carcinogens they can inhibit enzyme function, can accumulate in vital organs where they cause many chronic diseases that leads to death
physical influence -smoking ,physical in activity, weight gain and high blood pressure .they often coexist and interact with one another and increase the likelihood of getting disease or injury
examples of individual behavior that determine health include
diet, physical acitvity, alcohol, cigarette ,and other drug use
medical care and social factors -for example nonwhite racial and ethnic groups were at higher risk of developing hypertension ,heart diseases and diabetes than white individuals
barriers to accessing health service include
lack of availability
high cost
lack of insurance coverage
limited language access
They can lead to UNMET HEALTH NEEDS and delay in receiving appropripte care which increases the fatality of disease
