In the past your organization has encountered problems implementing the changes required by new union collective agreements. These problems have included being unable to meet agreed deadlines for processing retroactive pay and implementing new earnings and deductions. It is time once again for negotiations and, as Payroll Manager, you would like to be part of the process. After discussions with the Vice-President, Finance, you have been asked to provide a written document outlining the advantages of having payroll participate in this process.

Prepare a memo to the Vice-President outlining the problems you have encountered in the past and how they could have been avoided if you had been part of the negotiation process.

Respected Sir,

Subject: Participation of Payroll manager in discussion with the union.

I am happy to perceive that company's earnings have risen. I am further exhilarated to distinguish that the company would prefer to yield this profit with workers and consequently it is presenting with employee union for change in payment structure. Previously, the company had favorably settled with the union but could not complete it in the time as the payroll team saw it tough to execute some moves. In the memorandum, I wish to highlight the difficulties encountered by the payroll team in performing some modifications in payroll arrangement and hereafter would inquire you to invite me for discussion with union.

The company had allowed reducing social protection advantage and the equivalent would be given to workers in the form of allowance as mentioned in the last meeting, the aforementioned cannot be performed as by law it is compulsory to implement social safety advantages. There is some other stuff like medical insurance that requires an explanation from the union which is hesitating the implementation process. There is a necessity of decent conversation concerning meeting arrangements which are behaving as a bottleneck in executing changes.

I want to be in charge of the payment process as a payroll manager. I and my teammates have immeasurable experience of outlining salary structure which may help both employees also employers furthermore consequently would prefer to be part of the discussion. Therefore I request you to allow me for a discussion with the union.
