It is very important for nurses to follow culturally competent practices in health care services. Cultural competence of appropriate religious and cultural practices of individual people helps to promote safe patient care. When interviewing a patient of a young adult of the Hindu faith, the nurse first needs to assess the beliefs and practices of the individual. Initiate the interview with a greeting of namaste which is agreed in Hindus. They more expect of respect and virtues. Make the interview process slowly and patiently as hurrying of interview considered as rude by the Hindu people.
It is necessary to make the presence of one of the family members during the interview session as the Hindus depend more on elders.The patient will take the final decision after getting an opinion from the elders. Give them enough time to express their feelings as they are reluctant to speak more about their personal behaviours. The nurse must give importance to spirituality as they have more faith in God. Privacy is the most necessary thing during the clinical examination and they have specific in hygienic measures and diet.
