When the Canadian government began closing hospital beds and withdrawing money fromt he health care system, critics claimed that the lives of individuals were being put in jeopardy. Initially, government did nothing. Why do you think government reacted that way?
Canadian healthcare basically works like Medicare, but for everyone. Medical care is free, and it covers almost everything other than prescription drugs, glasses, and dental care. (Most people have supplementary insurance to cover those things).
Yes they are closing beds in the hospitals as they are creating more community based service which is reachable to all the victims, emergency with the all the equipment. Critics started saying that because of this decision people are suffering and postponing surgeries etc. Government did nothing and later reacted to the critics with the evidence that they have created community care centers and long term home services, the motto behind that is health care services should be available to everyone. Everybody who stays in rural and urban should get benefit.
Health care in Canada is delivered through a publicly funded health care system, informally called Medicare, which is mostly paid through taxes with most services being provided by private entities.
