In what ways has revisionist scholarship altered our modern view of colonial California?
The revisionist involved imparting knowledge to eradicate existing beliefs about events that happened in the past (Bryant & Joseph, 2006). It also involved disputing the legal and accepted views by the specialists in diverse fields as scholars. Scholars in diverse fields have explained the reasons for the great divergence in various parts of the world that also affected California in its modern era. The factors include culture, resource accumulation, the state and individuals, geography, and institutions that offer services to residents.
The changes adopted in the society enhanced commercial revolution in a unique approach that promoted capitalism which enhanced competitive traits by the firms and individuals in realizing a better society in the future. Additionally, industrial, technological, and scientific advancements boosted rapid changes in terms of development in California. The development of modern roads, mining machines, rails, and modernization in agriculture resulted in complexity in trade, agriculture, and other essential resources in California (Meer & Nasar, 2018). Therefore, revisionist scholarship had significant contributions in imparting the right mindset to advance the nation economically and create a new impressive outlook.
