Suburbs are residential areas located on the outskirts of a city; the residents in these areas may be employees in cities and often travel to work and get back after work. The suburbs may have different political jurisdictions; mostly, this is found in the United States, while in the United Kingdom, suburbs are found within administrative constraints of cities (Wilson & William., 10). The suburbs mainly result from unemployment in urban areas; additionally, the employees may be earning little, therefore, need to travel to lost cost areas. The improved road and rail transport also enhanced suburbs' development in the 19^th and 20^th centuries; these facilitated travels from inner cities to neighborhoods. The suburbs resulted in the emergence of cultural consensus, which ensures cultural beliefs are shared across persons.

People get to learn from each other since individuals may not grasp the full content of diverse cultures, therefore gaining from others hence cultural competence. The consensus aspect still exists in American culture; progressive interactions in the suburbs bring people from diverse cultures together, and the learning process of various cultures is continuous.  The mixed legacy of suburbs involved rapid growth initiated by William Levitt on mass production of techniques that mushroomed many houses known as Levittown that cost $10,000 considered inexpensive (Cisneros & Henry., 2006). Suburbs have significant impacts on culture today; these include housing designs, the stereotype of low population density, and architectural designs. These advancements within suburbs present cultural themes that need deep exploration in today's educational benefits.
