Resistance to change is a normal everyday aspect in the workplace. Note what happens to the organizational climate when this resistance occurs and any tactics to reduce negative connotations when dealing with change. Your response should be 250-300 words.
A change if not properly managed can turn a shinning organization soon to the verge of closing the organizations and discontinuance of operation. Let us understand in little detail the possible things that could go wrong.
- Frequent strikes might be an immediate consequence of change, this might even result in the formation of new unions and in turn would increase possibly of hunger or violent strikes.
- There will be a sharp reduction in the employee productivity of the organization & this will have several negative consequences, few people not explicitly participating in the strike will reduce their work quality to great extent.
- High employee turnover ratio & loss of key working personnel from the organization.
- Huge operational losses due to less than expected production or output might also be possible.
Let us logically understand what are the possible steps, the organization can implement to overcome resistance to change
- The biggest & cause of change is the fear of the unknown, this can be reduced to a great extent by properly communicating the plans to the employees, breaking it into multiple steps & ensuring the explanation is lucid & easy to interpret.
- The employees & persons must have some reaction after the communication of change, this marks the next step to be taken that is to emphatically listen to the feedbacks and the grievance of employees & implement the changes suggested.
- Each and every person must be separately communicated about their role in the change and the duty they have to function.
-Last but not least proper seminar and follow-ups must be organized to understand any possible ill-effects of the change and whether there is any need of modification in the plan.
