Technologies and scientific discoveries continue to impact our understanding of health conditions by improving screening, diagnosis, and monitoring, as well as how effective treatments may be developed. In this context technology has emerged blessing in measurement and monitoring of blood glucose, and insulin delivery in the management of diabetes.

Recently FDA (Food and drug administration) has approved one device which simultaneously measure blood glucose level and deliver insulin to the body. This device is efficient in adjusting insulin delivery according to the need. Before this technology, patient suffering from diabetes used to give injection to themselves for insulin delivery.

The name of the new device is Animas vibe which is a combination of insulin pump and continuous glucose monitoring system.

In this device patient has to wear the small pump on the outside of the body which delivers insulin 24 hours a day through a catheter inserted under the skin. And every five minutes vibe also simultaneously monitors blood sugar levels. It is equipped with built-in device screen where measurement and reading of the latest glucose, as well as glucose level trends over time, are visible.

In this screen color-coded lines are used which indicate trend of glucose through high, low, and normal blood sugar levels. This feature helps patient to easily recognize how his glucose levels are changing. This information can also be downloaded and sent to doctors for review and further treatment procedure.
