So, who is “ruling” healthcare? It is apparently the insurance companies. What do you think about this? Is it wrong that the best thing for the patient is trumped by expenses? Or is it prudent business to demand that the least expensive alternative be used? So, who is “ruling” healthcare? It is apparently the insurance companies. What do you think about this? The entire healthcare industry is under the control of insurance companies. When we approach a hospital for treatment, the first thing they enquire is about the insurance details and they develop their treatment plans accordingly. The ultimate aim is increasing profit for the healthcare organization as well as the insurance companies by utilizing the insurance plans available. We would not be in a position to demand for the least expensive alternative as all the patients always long for quality care if they have the capability to pay the expenses. Most of the healthcare practitioners are also tied up with the insurance companies. The healthcare staffs need to identify the best alternative without considering cost. But they often try to make more profit by suggesting the most expensive treatments based on the insurance plans availed by the patient. Hence in my opinion the best thing for the patient is trumped by expenses through the dominance of insurance companies and it is wrong thing happening in healthcare segment.
