Health Care Terminology is the study of the generally accepted words used in the medical and health care professional communities. Medical terminology is vital to your success in any health care career! It is the basic vocabulary of medical professionals. It includes abbreviations and terminology related to timing, diseases and conditions, anatomy, medications, charting and more.
Advantages of using abbreviation, acronyms, and symbols in health care:
1. Save time and allow quick communication among the medical people.
2. To maintain Universal code among the medical community
3. They allow the communication among the medical staff by maintaining confidentiality.
Ex: The suspicion of gender in case of pregnant women.
4. Easy to remember than the multi-syllable terms
Disadvantage of using abbreviation, acronyms, and symbols in health care:
Misunderstanding or confusion of the symbols, abbreviations and acronyms lead to wrong communication among the medical communication.
