In theory, once one understood the right, one should be able to reason out the correlative obligations. List and explain at least two obligations associated with informed consent.
Informed consent is a vital document while performing all surgical and aesthetic procedures. Proper documentation and counseling of patients is important in any informed consent.
Obtaining consent is not only an ethical obligation, but also a legal compulsion.
The obligation to provide adequate information to a patient implies an obligation for physicians to be current in their own knowledge.
Obligations of the patient
1. Inform them of all details necessary for a diagnosis, the preparation of an adequate treatment plan and for carrying out the required interventions, in particular, of his history of illnesses, medical treatment, medicinal drug use or use of paramedicines, and his health damaging risk factors
This obligation will be associated with informed consent elements in terms of explaining them about the procedure, benefit, risks associated with the procedure, outcomes and finally their acceptance.
2. When using a health care service, the patient shall respect and observe the legal rules relating to the institutional order.
Patients will be treated with the respect and also they should be cooperative by complying with hospital rules. In informed consent, the medical provider must disclose information on the treatment, test, or procedure in question, including the expected benefits and risks, and the likelihood (or probability) that the benefits and risks will occur
They must voluntarily grant consent, without coercion or duress
