SBAR ON A CLIENT WITH ATRIAL FIBRILLATION:
SBAR is a situational briefing model that provides a framework for communication between members of health care team .

In case of atrial fibrillation---
• Situation--
Mr. X has become unresponsive and her breathing is shallow. Her spo2 is 86% ,so I am putting her on a non-rebreather mask . she is to have all medical treatment with the exception of chest compression.
• Background--
Mr. X is in atrial fibrillation with a rate of 140. She was an IV bolus with 5 mg metoprolol administered over 2 mints . A standing order is placed for oral metoprolol 50 mg every 12 hr. She was become less responsive. Her BP is dropping . She has a history of hypertension. She is cold and clammy and her breathing is ineffective.
• Assessment--
She is deteriorating and in respiratory distress.
• Recommendation --
No further complaints of fluttering,chest discomfort ,weakness . A routine ECG confirm a sinus rhythm and normal left ventricular function.
PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH ATRIAL FIBRILLATION:
• Stroke
• Heart failure
• Chronic fatigue
History of heart attack or heart surgery increases risk of atrial fibrillation.
