10. Standard precautions are the minimum infection prevention and control practices that must be practised at all patients in all times.
Some of the standard precautions are -
11. Standard precautions are minimal precautions for all patients at all levels whereas transmission based precautions are used when standard precautions alone are not essential to control infection.
Standard precautions are prevention of infection by contact with blood , body fluids, non contact skin and mucous membrane whereas transmission based precautions are prevention of transmission through droplet , airborne and contact precautions.
Examples of disease prevented through
STANDARD PRECAUTIONS - HBV, HBV , AIDS etc.
TRANSMISSION BASED PRECAUTIONS- MRSA , salmonella ,shigella, tubercle , cholera , rubella , pertussis etc.
