Posdible Impact of study " Trends in dengue Research in Philippines " in field of Public health and Pharmacy:
The Republic of Philippines is a Southeast Asian Country comprised over seven thousand islands in the Pacific Ocean . One of the major communicable disease, that affect drastically the Philippines' health system is Dengue fever. It is first reported in the Country on 1954. The disease causes the death of many people in the country. In 2019 alone approximately 3 lakh people got infected with Dengue and around 2000 deaths happened.
Dengue fever is an acute febrile , some times Hemorrhagic disease endemic to the tropics, caused by Dengue virus, and primarily transmitted to humans from mosquitoes. Aedes mosquitoes are the main vectors of Dengue virus. Many number of Researches are happened in Philippines in recent years to support the country to get rid of this communicable disease , to stop the disease spreading , to understand the disease process, to Develop measures to eliminate Aedes mosquitoes , to invent new medicines etc.
' Trends in Dengue Research in Philippines ' study can impact the field of Public health and Pharmacy . Number of Researches conducted in Philippines, based on different topics related to Dengue . The trend of the studies is from simple descriptive studies to complex studies, that contain tough methodologies. Initial studies on Dengue were descriptive studies, that mainly described the epidemiology of Dengue infection and the disease process. They descibed the main symptoms of Hemorrhagic Dengue, intra vascular thrombosis and Dengue infection and other varying symptoms of Dengue. These al studies helped the Public health system, all around the wolrd , to get updated with the Epidemiological process of Dengue fever, risk factors of disease , factors influencing fatality of vulnerable groups etc.
Many Vector control and Entomologic studies also conducted to eliminate the Aedes mosquitoes from the country and to reduce the morbidity rate of Dengue. Around 72 Studies were there under this category. Studies investigated the effectiveness of different breeding control measures and larvicidal activities. This experiments also largely helped the Public health system in Philippines and other countries to adapt preventive measures against Dengue fever and Aedes mosquitoes.
Around 88 studies have conducted for serological response and virology and around 100 studies on clinical trials also conducted in Philippines, related to Dengue fever. These studies helped greatly the development of diagnostic evaluations and treatment regimens of Dengue fever . Clinical trials tested the effectiveness of different vaccines against Dengue, use of immuno globulins for the cure of disease and also tested the combination of different vaccines with Dengue vaccine. These trials all impacted the field of Pharmacy to Develop appropriate vaccines and medicines for Dengue. Pharmacist from all over the world observed the studies and analysed the limitations of the studies. This helped them largely in their experiments to Develop medications for Dengue.
Studies on Economic and behavioural impact of the disease , 'burden of disease' studies also impacted the public health field, to understand the disease and its effect on society well.
