Would you agree or disagree that language is a key to identity? be specific!
Yes I agree that language is a key to identity, but it does not define identity.
This is because our language is actually our identity. Like our appearance language has also an important role. As soon as a person speaks we could know his or her identity and we could know what he /she is capable of.
There is no problem in learning another language as it opens new opportunities and new life setups.some people will also changed their language or accent to pretend as if they have become other person, but it also proves their true language/accent is hidden out of embarrassment.
Language also reveals how a person has grown up, that is children from a below poverty family does not get a good education system and they may develop poor language/or accent that is different from other child who gets a good education system.
The difference in the slang itself will reveal the child's condition whether he is from a poor family or from a rich family.
Language is a everyday object that everyone uses to communicate and it decides ones character.
Language is always the expression of thought, speak according to how we think.
Our personality can also be changed according to the language we speak. Thus language the power to reflect and shape an individual identity.
Strongly language may identify an individual with certain social status, race, xender. People who identify themselves with a certain group will speak a common language.
Thus language plays a key role in identity.
