Expert Solution

Marketing is all about to drag the five senses of a consumer towards a product.

Sight: Visual presentation of a product is very important in the field of marketing. There is a saying that first impression lasts long. Product design puts a strong impact on our business. The style and packaging of a product attracts a customer. Product style along with good branding and quality adds value to the marketing of a product. Color is also one of the important marketing stimuli used in packaging or advertising to attract more & more customers.

Smell : Smell is one of the most direct among all senses. Every humanbeing has the ability to judge a product by its odour. Good and fresh smell indicate freshness of a product, although it's not true always as artificial perfumes can be added to a product to keep it fresh smelling. A good scent corresponding to a product can be used as a marketing tool or the natural smell of a fresh product can be maintained to make the product more attractive.

Hearing : Listening to a good music always relax our mind. In shopping malls slow music is played to energize the minds of people so that they can shop happily. To draw the attention of customers marketing people use good music in advertising their product.

Touch : As humanbeing, we all love to feel the thing before we go for it. We like to touch each & every product before buying. In a shopping mall buyers are allowed to take a trial of their dresses so that they can feel the product as their own. Companies give emphasis to good packaging so that whenever a customer opens a product he can touch the product emotionally & feel happy at his first purchase.

Taste: Taste is one of the strongest marketing stimuli. Before buying a food product a customer wants to taste the food. By judging the behaviour of the consumers companies keep food samples at their store.

It is important to consider the 5 senses when marketing a product, because a product market exists due to customers. Customers are the pillar of the success of a product. So it's the first and foremost duty of a company to impress & satisfy the consumers. Whatever may be the business it should hit the 5 senses of a customer. Suppose you have a dress store dealing with varieties of branded dresses with modern styles. But if the dresses are not fulfilling the 5 senses of a customer then what's meaning of opening a dress store. It means the dresses should be of good colors, eyecatching designs & should be smooth to touch, then only a customer can show interest to buy. After that the seller must use some secondary marketing stimuli like playing of melodious songs in his shop, spraying of good perfumes which will change the mood of customers and push them to buy something.

Before selling a new product it's necessary to understand the behaviour of a consumer. How a consumer behaves for a certain product matters a lot, because it is the consumer behaviour that increases sales and create a strong brand identity. Suppose if you are selling mobiles, you should do a market research to know the mood or behaviour of customers, i.e., which group of customers like which type of mobiles. Or which type of festival or occasion makes them to feel gifting a mobile to their near and dear ones. This type of consumer behaviour is very sensitive. So to boost sales a seller must think of consumer behaviour as their primary market research.
