Special Senses:
What so special about the "Special Senses".
Why do we call General Senses general and Special Senses Special??
Special Senses:
Normally the body is influenced by the external environmental change which are perceived by the sensory system of the body. There are two types of sensation that is carried by the sensory system are: The special senses and the general senses.
The special senses can identify the stimulus from a longer distance which are located nearly to the central nervous system to respond one type of stimulus.
The special senses are namely the vision sense, the hearing sense, taste sense, smell sense and the equilibrium sense known as balance. All these sense are detected by the specific receptors.
The general sense is located all over the body and it will also respond to types of various stimulus in the body and that are named as touch, pain, thermal sensation.
The general senses are called general and special senses are called as special because the general senses do not have any specialized sense organ to detect the senses it is all detected through a touch so it is called general senses but special senses have specialized sensory organ and each organ respond to each type of stimulus so it is called special senses.
