Explain the concept of ‘critical day length’ as it applies to short day plants and long day plants. Be sure to comment on phytochrome, and how it plays into this.

Solutions

Expert Solution

For flowering in long day plant - night period or dark period is less than or below critical day length. in simple words they get more daylight than night time to get flowering.

Short day plant - require continuous darkness to flower ie night time is more than the critical day length.
