ANS- Global climate change is referred to as the change in climate occurs globally. whose effects are, the increase in temperature occurs over the earth, increased sea level, increased water vapor, etc.

• The impact of Climate change on biodiversity is of major concern to the convention on biological diversity(CBD). CBD is the multilateral agreement(treaty) that functions to some strategies on a national basis for conserving and using biological diversity.

EXAMPLES OF BIODIVERSITY SPECIES INFLUENCED BY CLIMATE CHANGE

• In North America, the climate got fluctuated and as a result of that, the population of plankton got reduces. and also the availability of food is reduced due to the change in climate that's why climate change has become the major cause of mortality.
• In the Pacific region, the temperature got warmer and a result of that population of male sea turtle offsprings got reduced and the whole turtle population comes under is in threat.the sex of turtle offspring is based on the temperature, such that when the temperature got warmer the increase in the number of female sea turtle born.

EFFECTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE ON BIODIVERSITY

The component of species in biodiversity got affected as a result of climate change.

1. Increase the extinction rate of animals.
2. Changes occur in the reproductive period of animals.
3. Changes in length of growing seasons for plants.
4. Change in the distribution of animals on earth.
