  2. What examples can you provide to assist a patient with a chronic illness? Are there natural treatments that could be used for specific chronic illnesses.
  3. Chronic illness and Pain are often associated with each other. When considering pain physiology (see attached) identify as many pain treatment approaches that you can. pick two pain treatment approaches and determine where each method is known to alter the physiological dimension of pain.

Some of the issues a caregiver faces with chronic ill patients are

  • Physical and emotional stress due to heavy or continuous work
  • Skipping meals while in work

  • Limited free time and holidays

E.g.,A patient with dementia or Alzheimer's often forget things ,it is the duty of the care giver to repeatedly remind them and help in dail activities. At times this can make them anger and feel sorry out of frustration for the patient being a human being

The two main treatment approaches to alter physiological dimension of pain are

  • Drug therapy :There are drugs which acts directly on the pain receptors of brain cell and stops the neurotransmitter from feeling pain stimulus (Marijuana,Cannabis,Sedatives,Antianxiolytics)
  • Surgical tgerapy: When the mefical method fails ,patients are suggested for this (Intratgecal drug delivery, spinal cord stimulation implants ) to reduce pain
  • Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) are commonly used method yo alter the pain
