What does the acronym HVBP stand for and what is the purpose of its’ program?

this question from Health Information system course and I need a brief answer.

HVBP stands for Hospital Value Based Purchasing Program. It gives acute care hospital as well as incentive payment. It basically adjusts payment under IPPS (Inpatient Prospective Payment System) depending on the quality of care. It's a part of centers for Medicare and Medicaid service (CMS).

They have several purpose such as -

1. This program basically enhance the safety of the patient, efficiency, encourages proper clinical results for patient as well as better the experience of the patient in the hospital stay.

2. This program decreases the cost of hospitalization in order to make it affordable for each individual.

3. This program make sure that adverse event doesn't happen.

4. They make sure that the care provided to each individual is evidence based.

5. They always check the process followed in hospital so that they can work on the areas which results in decrease care of an individual.
