Explain the relationship between risk management and health care legislation. How does one impact the other?
Risk management in health care is a very imporatant aspect as it has to deal with patient safety (life and death) or to reduce injury to patients, staff members and visitors in a health care setup. It basically focuses on the risky incidents or damages following an event.
For example,CVP (central venous monitoring )line evaluation is very necessary to avoid catheter associated infections which is a risk for patient.
Thus,it is necessary for an health care organisation to have risk managers to assess, develop plans with a goal to minimise the risk in areas of financing.emergency, incident management ,claims management etc.
Similarly, not only patients but adminstrators addressing challenges should be solved by framing proprer risk assessment plan or strategies in fields of Potential medical error, legislations, insurances etc.
So, risk managers must stay up to date on relevant information in their organisation which would further reduces the risks.
