Preceptors on clinical rotation as a family nurse practitioner:

Preceptors:the FNP program identifies and uses preceptors to meet preceptors selection criteria, ensuring congruence with the NTF evaluation criteria.all preceptors are selected because they have educational an experiential background necessary for effective precepting.

Documentation of clinical practice hours:

Student must maintain and review clinical practicum hours and patient encounter information using Typhon NPST to ensure that these requirements have been,or will be, met prior to graduation..it is student responsibility to maintain the clinical hours log using Typhon and obtain the preceptors signature at the designated time during clinical practicum that validates the completion of the clinical hours as indicated by the student.the student will enter patient encounter information such as demographics, clinical information, diagnosis, procedure codes, medications and brief notes.students are required to provide a printout documenting total clinical hours, complete name and address of practice sites, site speciality and preceptors name and credentials for each clinical course.

Student accountability:

Knowing and practicing safety measures.

Using evidence based and national standards.

Provide quality care.

Placing patient first,and

reading and becoming knowledgeable of the FNP program entry level clinical competencies,i.e.,nurse practitioner core competencies.

Clinical hours expectations:

The schedule of clinical practicum hours is at the convenience and availability of the preceptor.students are not to ask preceptors to confirm to a schedule that meets the student's personal and employment needs.the student personal and work schedule should accomodate the required clinical hours prescribed by clinical hours.student and preceptors need to agree on the days and times that the student will be in the clinical agency prior to beginning the practicum experience and then maintain a record of clinical hours.
