Expert Solution

Charles Darwin who proposed the theroy of Natural Selection, He was only 22 years old when he sailed as ship's naturalist the H.M.S. Beagle and turn arround the globe. He made significant observations of the animal life living in different type of environment. These are:

  1. He was observed one of the most famous species "finches" that lived on the Galapagos islands
  2. He was also bserved 13 species of finches that lived on the islands
  3. He noted in the difference shape of finch's beak in finches living on each island
  4. He also observed that the shape of beak of finches is according to food avialble on that island finches
  5. He also made similar observations throughout his journey.
  6. He also observed that traits/ character can be inherited to their offsprings from parent
  7. His observation also states that the populations produce higher number of offspring than an environment can sustain
  8. He also observed the competition among the population in lack of resources
  9. He also observed that many offspring may die due to the lack of resources within the environment.
  10. He also observed that the offspring that ones that have survive in that environment have most advantageous traits for the environment
  11. On the basis of these observations he develop the theory natural selection.

Discuss what Darwin observed during his voyage on the Beagle. How did those observations lead to his theory about common descent with modification? Use the scientific method in your discussion. Step 1: What did he observe? Step 2: What was his hypothesis? Step 3: What prediction was made based on his hypothesis? Step 4: How can the prediction be tested using similar observations? Step 5: What was the conclusion? Your response must be at least 200 words in length.
