Power abuse in healthcare organisation is one of the common matter in world wide. Three dimensions of mistreatment are verbal abuse, work obstruction and emotional neglect have been associated with diminished well being, work satisfaction and organised commitment, along with stronger intent to leave. Conditions such as work overload, poor interpersonal relations and unsupportive climates are commonplace, contributing to staff burnout, low morale and volunteer turnover. The last is particularly troubling in light of persistant workforce shortages and under funding, which strain health systems already stretched to capacity. Costs of turnover are escalating in part because of high rates of departure by health professionals, especially nurses and administrators.
