Antihistamines

15 years of albuterol useage

atkins diet

Solutions

Expert Solution

1. Caffeine for 30 years : caffeine drinks contain some amount of oxalate. Also caffeinated beverages cause increased urine production by stimulating antidiuretic hormone. All those factors are related to lower risk of kidney stones.

2. Antihistaminics cause urinary retension due to weakening the bladder muscles. This causes improper constriction and relaxation of the bladder muscles and results in urine retension. Retension of urine in turn causes stone in kidney.

3. Albuterol is used as a brochodilator to relax the airways in COPD and asthma patients. Albuterol is not easily eliminated through the body and most of the albuterol is eliminated through the kidney. This may be the reason for kidney stones due to albuterol.

4. Atkins diet : atkins diet constitutes high protein and low carbohydrate diet to reduce weight. This leads to decreased calcium absorption by the body and increased chances of kidney stones.
