The term “medical tourism” is related to the travel purpose of getting surgical, medical or dental care. It shows a quickly expanding market within the healthcare industries. There are many factors due to which medical travellers seek medical care which is not well available in their residence area. Some of the factors are lower costs of care, a better quality of care and highly advanced technology.
Such factors strongly contribute to medical tourism’s growth and display a trend of growth in the upcoming future. Local governments along with healthcare companies are developing themselves in order to make a contribution to the “medical tourism market” in the world. Even though, medical tourism is a “niche market”, there is global and broad participation. Globalization, economic trends, technological change and demographics are the key factors for the increasing trend of medical tourism.
The healthcare companies of the United States are continuously facing an unmatched hike in costs of providing medical and healthcare to approximately 46 million patients who are either underinsured or insured. The employers and insurers along with these patients are trying to minimize the costs of treatment by the medium of international outsourcing. As the medical tourism is on-trend and the healthcare system in the United States is not ready to combat its effects on their economy and their policies. The pressure for cost-effective health care services is encouraging patients to approach treatment on a global scale with simultaneously balancing the quality standards
