Immigration policies, carried out by Trump administration are more stringent in nature and it is more restrictive to control the immigration in comparison to the immigration policies followed by the Obama administration. Trump administration has focused to eliminate the illegal immigration and try to make other nations such as Mexico to be accountable for infiltration of immigrants. These initiatives by Trump is dedicated to making America great again. Though, Obama administration had given amnesty to illegal immigrants provided meeting certain criteria. So, it can be said that immigration policies by Obama is more relaxed, tolerant and inclusive nature. In general, immigration is viewed as letting people come from outside and eat out the jobs that were for local workforce. Though, it may not be true in the long run.
While immigration policies are made by the constitution, but states are the parties where the immigrants come to live. States can have their own customized plans to accommodate the immigrants so that domestic workforce, resources for domestic people should not be inadequately compromized. States can influence the policy, as it can accept immigrants of those nations also that are banned by the Federal government and it is the US constitution that allows the states to do so. For example, Trump banned immigrants from a few nations in the beginning of his administration, but different states shot down it by the court of laws using the same constitution.
