Training and development is very important in healthcare. HR typically oversees this - but there are certain training subjects that all must attend such as OSHA, HIPAA, etc. Certainly there are also self audits and audits/reviews by accrediting agencies. Any deficiencies result in the creation of performance improvement teams/quality improvement teams. These will institute training and what is needed to correct the deficiency and keep it from happening again.
Does your organization utilize improvement teams? in what way?
The health care offers thousands of training courses each year both mandatory and optional, byrole. Training such as OSHA and HIPAA are increasing its importance .because nurses and other health care team are bound to protect client confidentiality by most nurse practice acts,by ethical principles and standards and by institutional policies.Training and development initiatives are not often a top concern for health system leaders .Employes at hospital have multiple responsibiltes, and training should be designed so that it can be completed with out taking way from responsibilities. It is important to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs because a training program that doesnot effectively improve some skill or competency is a waste of health system resources and employees time therefore assess the effectiveness of the program through surveys and testing of skills. It is important to personalize program for hospital because hospital staff who have direct knowledge of issue which may require more training should be consulted when developing a program Incorporate interaction and technology as attention span diminishes after a while,so extended training sessions should be minimized or made more lively with interactive elements .During the training sesson ,include group exercise, games, role playing ,brainstorming
Improvement teams can be utilized to provide traing for the staff
To possess specialized knowledge and skills and often fuction effectively even under high workload conditions
To clear roles
to communicate effectively
to deliver high quality care and measuring the impacts
