In the movie stand and deliver jaime escalante dedicates his life as a math teacher at james a garfield high school and he tries very hard to teach his students arithmetic and as time passes , he realises that each of his students have the potential to learn and therefore he continues to teach more maths especially calculus and since this process is going on and students are learning very fast and so as a measure of how much the students have learned , a test is conducted and each and every student gets passed and then they are celebrating and the teacher escaante gets an award for the teaching but there is a slight problem and that is the higher council can't believe that the students have passed the tests especially each one of them and there is discrimination and suspicion and a new test is to be taken this time which is much more harder and this time too each and every student passes the test.

From the movie we can say one thing for sure that it is the teaching method of the teacher that decides how much knowledge has been imparted to everyone in the class and how in times of mathematical dilemma , how the students come out of it and like a phrase in the movie "if others can why can't you" tells us that each part of maths whether it be calculus, trignometry or arithmetic , if one focuses and the methodology used by the teacher is good, one can achieve anything in life and therefore teachers have to be hardworking and patient at the same time.
