a) Competitive advantage refers to factors that allows a company
to produce goods or services better or more cheaply than its
rivals. Competitive advantage puts a company in superior
position.
The amazon company's primary competitive advantages are the low
prices that it is able to offer, a wide variety of products on
offer ranging from digital media to grocery, and same day delivery
attracts customer towards amazon and this large custumer base is
gratest advantage of amazon.
b) A niche market is a market segment of a larger market that is
defined by its own unique needs, preferences, or identity.
A positioning strategy is when a company chooses one important key
area to concentrate on and excels in that area. A firm's
positioning strategy focuses on how it will compete in the
market.
Amazon is targeting the market of e-books reader and to reach the market the amazon has developed its product Kindle which is now a large market for e-book readers and to capture more market amazon is creating alliances with number of publishers to produce content for its e-readers. Since a number of analysts have predicted a large market for e-book readers so the strategy to keep more content in kindle will help amazon to attract more readers.
c) A positioning statement is an expression of how a given product,
service or brand fills a particular consumer need in a way that its
competitors don't. The amazon positioning statement is to be the
earth’s most customer-centric company a place where customer can
find anything he wants to buy. Amazon sets itself apart from other
online retailers with its customer obsession, passion for
innovation, and commitment to operational excellence
