Methods for prevention of illegal substance use among young people:
Some methods that I would use to prevent the young people of using these drugs is by showing them videos or involving TV shows with the dangers these drugs have over one’s body. Counseling from as young as possible can show them why they shouldn’t do these drugs before them even having a direct contact with them. Additionally, using research based substance prevention programs to be implemented by schools and communities for the use of alcohol, tobacco, and illegal drugs. Such programs can help teachers, parents, and health care professionals guide the youth in gaining knowledge about the risk of substance use. While many social and cultural factors affect drug use trends, when young people perceive drugs as harmful, they reduce their level of use.
