What vein is used most commonly as the approach during pacemaker insertion? Why would the femoral vein ever be chosen as an approach?
List 2 arrhythmias that may require defibrillation. List a few arrhythmias that might require synchronized cardioversion.
Permanent pacemaker is used input human heart when the natural pacemaker that is the SA NODE. and the av node failure occur . So to stimulate the heart to beat rythamically the pacemaker is used . The insertion of the pacemaker and it's lead is considered as a minimally invasive procedure . Specifically the Transvenous access to our human heart chambers that is done under the local anesthesia technique which is Specifically the favored technique and it is done Very commonly via the subclavian vein as well as the , the cephalic vein( very rarely) or through the the internal jugular vein and also the femoral vein
Pacemaker implantation the femoral vein can be used as an approach as to place the lead of the pacemaker into the wall of our heart the femoral vein is helpful. The right femoral vein of our body will be punctured in the groin are that is , approximately about 3 cm below the iliac ligament of our body . In our body we specifically use a specific kind of deflectable 8.4F guiding catheter that will be be used to guide it to the right atrium. So in this the femoral vein will guide it to the common illiac vein and into the inferior vena cava and it finally reach the right side of our heart . So it will reach the place where the lead of the pacemaker is to he affixed. So it is used as a good option for the placement.
The arteries are not used as it is usually placed in the right side of the heart where the pacemaker is situated. so to femoral vein is preferred
