QS: An ethical issue, when considering the job of the probation/parole officer, is the question of what, if anything, society owes the offender. Can society embrace a classical or neoclassical perspective, assume offenders are totally free and responsible, and simply ignore any consideration of assistance to offenders? Or does society have some obligation to help offenders to some degree? How does the author feel about this issue? What is your opinion? Explain.

Expert Solution

- For economics perspective , Neoclassical analysis relies on the concept of general equilibrium—that is, all markets will reach equilibrium because of the invisible hand, or free market and the price will be found for every good at which supply equals demand.

- All resources are used efficiently based on the principle of marginal cost equaling marginal revenue, and no involuntary unemployment of labor or capital takes place. ANd therefore Neoclassical or classical models do not suggest government intervention in case of crisis.

- However we do not agree with this approach when it comes to when considering the job of the probation/parole officer and what society owes the offender.

- At the core of crime is an individual completing criminal behavior. Understanding the procedures that move and shape that action are in this manner significant to any thought of crime and society. At the point when the crimes considered are of the most egregious kind, for example, the mass shootings at that point it is enticing to expect that there are special individual parts of the offender that are the reason. The perspectives are profoundly implanted in his responses to social and cultural procedures. His incredibly low confidence is identified with the numerous social disparities he accepts he has encountered.

- An ongoing issue of Contemporary Social Science is given to the wide range of disparities that proliferate and their wide-going results. Society can't be accused for his savage activities, however the social disparities go some approach to clarify his creating outrage and dissatisfaction.

- Therefore we believe that Neo classical or classical approach will not help and Society and government intervention is required.
