I hope you will rate my answer positively--
INFECTION----- It is defined as penetration of body structure ( tissue) by foreign bodies including microorganisms which has potential to cause diseases is called infection.
Infections can be bacterial, viral, parasitic, or fungal.
There are four main vital signs ----
1. Body temperature
2. Pulse rate.
3. Blood pressure.
4. Respiratory rate .
FEVER OR INCREASE IN BODY TEMPERATURE specifically reveals the information about infection in most of cases . It act as defence for the body.
But any disturbance in vital signs is indicative of infections and also depend on type of infections , like in bacterial infection fever, tachycardia, tachypnea is specific sign .
After examining the patient we come across that it is infection { comes in number 3rd or 4th } although it is primary step for diagnosing the infection or any type of diseases but final conclusion or our main diagnosis is based upon serological examination, blood test , or urine analysis/ culture of spinal fluid.
In postoperative care the final evaluation of infection is done by nurse that whether infection persist or goes away -----
1. Nurse always monitor about post operative problems of patient during this period. It is very critical part for best recovery of patient.
2. Areas identified where the Chances that infection may persist.
3. Skin assessment is done.
4. Check the patient ability to perform personal excersises like self care and hygiene .
5. Evaluate the body temperature, pulse rate , breathing, any edema, or tender incision.
6. Final diagnostic testing is done .
7. See the patient knowledge about infection control and prevention.
Before prescribing ANTIMICROBIAL THERAPY , antimicrobial susceptibility testing should be performed, assay of bactericidal activity and serum inhibitory, check serum antibiotic level, determine the production of bacterial beta -lactamase production, and hypersensitivity testing.
Thankyou.
