A bomber flies Northwards at height H above the ground, at a horizontal speed of V_0. The bomber is located at geographic latitude λ in the Northern hemisphere and flies exactly along a geographic longitude of planet Earth. A bomb is released from the airplane and falls to the ground.
A. Calculate the Coriolis Acceleration and the Coriolis Force.
B. Is the diversion Eastwards or Westwards? Explain your answer.
C. Calculate the distance between the point where the bomb hits the ground and the geographic longitude in question.
Since bomb will be moving towards north , the force is to the right or eastward. Initial eastward displacement and veleocve are zero. Hence no constants appears in the solution of equation of motion. Time is obtained from vertical motion. By that time the coriolis force will shift the position from initial longitude.
