An object of mass 200kG is at a height of 50 meters above the ground and is moving with a speed of 1.8m⁄s . Calculate its:

- Potential energy at that height?

- Kinetic energy?

- Total energy and momentum?

- Objects total momentum at that height?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Potential energy at that height = mgh

                                                  = 200 * 9.8 * 50

                                                   = 98000 J

Kinetic energy = 1/2mv2

                        =    1/2 * 200 * 1.82

                        = 324 J

Total energy =   98000 +   324

                     = 98324 J

Objects total momentum at that height = mv

                                                               = 200 * 1.8

                                                               =   360 kg.m/s
