Who should be in control of determining what is and is not a sexual problem?
Sexuality:- is a complex interplay of multiple facets, including anatomical, physiological, psychological, development, cultural and relation factor. Sexuality in adults consist of 7 components these are:-
Gender identity, orientation and intention form sexual identity whereas desire, arousal and orgasm are components of sexual function.
There are two sexual desire disorder:-
1. HSDD (Hypoactive sexual desire disorder.
2. SAD ( Sexual aversion disorder)
HSDD defined as''persistently or recurrently deficiency or absent sexual fantasies, and desire for sexual activity.
The judgement of deficiency or absence is made by the clinician, taking into account factors that affect sexual functioning, such as age and the context of the person's life.
SAD is defined as ''persistent or recurrent extreme aversion to, and avoidance of all genital sexual contact with a sexual partner.
In order for a patient to diagnosed with a sexual dysfunction disorder, a psychophysiologic problem must exist, the problem must cause marked distress or intetpersonal difficulty.
Also two sexual disorder must be ruled out before one can diagnosis HSSSD and SAD.
A thorough history and physical examination are critical to properly diagnosis and determine the causative agent.
