(3)a. Briefly explain the main application of positive feedback system
(b) Voltage gain of an amplifier without feedback is 60dB. It decreases to 40dB with feedback. Calculate the feedback factor.
(c) What is the function of zero crossing detector and its practical applications
3. (a) If feedback bis provided in such a way that it is in phase with the input signal and thus resulting in an increase of input signal is known as positive feedback.
One of the most important application of positive feedback is in oscillators.
Oscillator uses positive feedback signal without any external input signal and thus generating a waveform of desired frequency.
(b) Voltage gain without feedback (A) = 60 dB
Voltage gain with feedback (Af)= 40 dB
As,
, where is the feedback factor.
Hence,
(c) A zero crossing detector is a voltage comparator. It detects the transition of signal from positive to negative and thus can be used to compare the two signals simultaneously.
Zero crossing detector can have many applications. It can be used to detect whether the opamp is in good condition or not. They are also used as switching circuits and frequency countera in many circuits.
