q) write an essay for types of bio materials used for artificial blood design (artifical organs).
I need help with this can you please make and abstract also.
Ans: Any device or machine that replaces faulty organ or body parts functionally is called as an artificial organ. Biomaterials should be biocompatible and should encompass appropriate molecular permeability to be used for artificial organ purposes. Earlier, cellulose was used greatly for such purposes but its use has been later decreases due to poor hemocompatibility. Polymer-based biomaterials have been used for the replacement of extracorporeal artificial organs such as lung substitute, kidney substitute, and peritoneal dialysis. Currently, synthetic polymers such as polyacrylonitrile, polysulfone, are used for making synthetic polymers. Metal-based biomaterials are used for making prosthetics such as hard tissues. Metallic biomaterials are used for making implantable medical devices due to their excellent mechanical properties. For example, Titanium-based biomaterial coated with chitosan are used for orthopedic transplants.
