Expert Solution

infSome mnemonic techniques that can be beneficial for learning are described as follows:

1. If a list of items are to be remembered, their first letters can be used to form another word. If the word formed by combining the initial letters of a list has meaning, then it can be recalled more effectively. The classic example for this mnemonic is learning the colours of the rainbow from the acronym ‘VIBGYOR’ which represents Violent, Indigo, Blr, Green, Yellow, Orange and Red.

2. Transforming information to be remembered into a poem or ode with rhyming words can also aid learning and recall. For instance, while learning the placement of ‘i’ in English words, one mnemonic frequent used is: “I before e except after c; or when sounding like a, in neighbor and weigh.’

3. Another technique of remembering is using a diagrammatic model to remember information. Sometimes this model might already by available however, one can use their own imagination to illustrate the main highlights involved as a circular sequence model, a pyramid model, a pie chart etc.

Technique three is vastly useful for studying large and detailed theories that involve several processes by breaking them down into smaller components and representing them diagrammatically.
