The great happiness principle refers is the moral tenet that holds that the very good thing to do is what contributes to great happiness. It is considered as the ultimate standard of morality. Happiness is the act which produces pleasure, reducing pain etc. The quality of happiness varies depending upon the selection between two alternative course of action. It is a criteria which helps to establish what is moral and not. A society is said to be ideal when each and every individual is happy without any pain. Happiness is also defined as the meaning of life. If there is the presence of happiness in life the life will become more and more meaningful. On the other words life is worthless without happiness. An individual can receive happiness by giving up something valuable for others, sharing values, helping others etc.
