. How do Vygotsky and Piaget differ in the ways they describe children’s’ learning (try to provide an example)?
Describe one piece of evidence / data / example that suggests learning occurs during the prenatal period.
1) According to Vygotsky social and cultural plays an important role in understanding and learning the things. According to him social interaction is very important for the development of cognition and he believed that community plays a central role in the process of "making meaning.
According to Piaget, cognitive development is a process where children recognize the things due to biological maturation and environmental experience. Children perceive the world around them, and then recognize the differences between what they already know and what they discover in their environment. Piaget talked about three factors schemas, adaptation process and stages of cognitive development.
2) According to many researches baby learn the sound of their mothers’ voices. Pregnant woman’s own voice reverberates through her body, reaching the fetus since it is always with her; it hears her voice a lot. Once babies are born they recognizes the sound their mothers voice. Researchers discovered that, after women repeatedly read aloud a section of Dr. Seuss’s The Cat in the Hat while they were pregnant, their newborn babies recognized that passage when they heard it outside the womb
