Now days foods that we consume may contain genetically modified organisms, or GMOs. One of the plant sources which is regularly modified is corn and products that are derived from corn, like high fructose corn syrup. What other foods do you know or can you find through a simple search that may likely be a GMO? How do you feel about eating products that have been genetically modified? There are now packaging on products that are non-GMO. Would this persuade you to pay more for these products because you feel they are safer?
Other than corn there are rice, soybeans. papaya, peas which are very commonly available GM foods.
I personally don't feel any such issue with having a GM food as these food products are extensively researched by scientists worldwide very rigorously before making them commercially available for consumption. The negative impacts due to which lots of people feel scared having GM foods doesn't have any solid scientific proofs supporting them. So by this point of view and my strong belief in science, I will not have any issue having GM food in my plate.
Nope, I don't feel a bit paying more for those so-called "non-GMO" foods till the day when there will be solid scientific proof backing the claims against Gm foods. As for safety lots of natural non-GMO foods causes various allergic conditions in humans. So, GM foods are not to be blamed for any allergy. More than that many of the GM foods are designed with enhanced nutritional values in them which is actually good for us to consume.
