Proteins are amino acid chains that are linked via ________bonds.
Amino acids are organic compounds. Each amino acid contains two different functional groups: a basic amino group (−NH2), an acidic carboxyl group (−COOH), and an organic R (for “residue") group (or side chain). Each amino acid structure consists of a central carbon atom attached to a hydrogen atom, an amino group, a carboxyl group, and a side chain (R group). The R group differs for each amino acid, hence the R group defines the nature of each amino acid and it forms a protein's reactive group. The term amino acid is the short form for alpha-amino [α-amino] carboxylic acid.
Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins, amino acids in a protein are linked together by peptide bonds
