what political, economic and strategic factors led the colonies of British north America to unite into Canada? (300 - 400 words)
Algonquian Group created a Council of Three Fires ( A defensive alliance to defend against the Iroquois people). This helped the Europeans to use animosities among the natives in future.The lands of Canada become forgotten until the end of 15th Century.
Atlantic Mission which John Cabots leads. Cabot discovered the NewFoundland and names it a NewFoundland. Later, Jacques Cartier a Frenchman initiates two expeditions. He believed that a natural waterway will lead to Asia and it could be found through continents of North America and South America.
On the Day of Sant, Lawrence sails into a river its name then became Saint Lawrence River. Since his journey the territories being colonized French started to be called as CANADA. "A French was pointing villages with his finger saying KANATA which in the Huron Iroquois language meant a Settlement" The name Canada was developed from word KANATA.
English Corsiarr takes Quebec without a fight but in 1632 French retakes it and in 1642 established another settlement Montreal. The First Trade Undertaking were by Franch. They were establishing trading companies and started dominating the coast.
In 1670 English forms a Hudson Bay Company they focused on Fur trade and Competition between French and English. French developed settlements until 1685 the populations reaches 10000 people by 1740.
With the arrival of 18th Century the French control on Canada starts to weaken. After war of the spanish succession france was forced to acknowledge british control over Hudson Bay. Up until middle of the 18th century stress between two powers arises. The British takeover the French Territories and faces the possibility of rebellion. Therefore expel the French speaking population south. France loses the war and Paris was forced to give up all the territories in Cnada to British.
